Choose the focal point(s) of a new necklace, choose supporting materials and place around the focal; pick secondary charms, beads, links and etc., that will look best with the focal. Map it out on a flat surface, decide what necklace configuration/type will catch the best. This is the blueprint, two-dimensionally, for the upcoming piece
Go from flat surface to foundating structure, the bones of the house. Three-dimensionally it technically becomes a sculpture, I put it together like a puzzle. I love using filigree and embellishments initially to build onto, hang and layer. The style starts taking shape, at this point it is just troubleshooting, what is going to work in the building and what won't, compared to the original vision. Do I like how it is going to look on a person, how it moves, how it lays? Once I'm happy with the main part of the necklace, and the way it looks three-dimensionally, I'll let the design sit for a few days..
After I've let the necklace sit for a few days, I go back to the design with a fresh mind. I add the supportive parts, the chaining, beading, strapping, cording, linking and finally, choose the clasping specific for the intending necklace type. I'll tighten up all the connections and make final adjustments, make any changes or additions needed. Most pieces have sections that need rhinestones, I like to involve the customer deciding what colors they should be, and also with beading. Once finished the sense of completion really helps me mentally, I'm truly thankful for each completed project and the opportunity to give my design to someone who really loves it...
A step up from the common Drop-Pendant necklace type, the "yoke" part of the necklace is doubled and fastened to the top of the drop-pendant, making a choker like a necktie. The yoke can also split over-the-head and be wrapped to layer, or plunge deeply down to the waist...
Swings vertical to horizontal, the necklace swivels from a drop-pendant style to a choker, fastening around the neck, it layers...
The front of the main structure of the necklace has a chain where the pendant itself, or a piece of the pendant slides back and forth horizontally...
Options for existing jewelry in the shop to increase or decrease price, add or subtract parts of the piece or change necklace type, configuration and/or complexity...
Choose how the necklace clasps, how it wears, make it cleverLee; fixed with a 2" limited sizing, double-lobster so it can wrap, Lariat/swing or swivel pendant, double-split, lengthen the pendant focal, add more pieces that dangle, add layer sections or make the pendants' focal interchangeable..
Add basic sections that enables the main part of necklace to switch out or add basic layers or simple sections. A dedicated part of the Online Store that has at minimum, 100 basic layer options, and the ability to add onto, any other necklaces...
Short-Term Goals:
1) Explain “connections” troubleshooting, layering, puzzle to put together, stacked adds to the cost of a necklace
2) Re-work “Portfolio” section, make into two pages because there is too much on that page, too many galleries uploading makes the site SLOW, one page “Necklace Types/Configurations” and “Genre Styles"
3) Photo Configurations on flat surface to accompany “Necklace Types/Configurations”
4) Display statement necklaces LIVE, gather enough courage to model these
5) Basic Layers Mix & Match / Develop Basic B- / Interchangeable Necklace Segments
6) New Series: teal & purples, turquoise and goldstone, antique/gunmetal, links, loops, hoops and chainy chain chain and chains, repurposed entirely with vintage watches and keys, EASTER and Spring Season 2024
